“Even beyond the comical cutscenes rendered in an endlessly amusing cut-and-paste Monty Python and the Holy Grail vibe, Rock of Ages is an odd duck that revels in its unusualness,” stated IGN critics in its recognition of Rock of Ages as one of The Weirdest Games of 2011.
Known for their outlandish and crazy themed games, back in 2009, before Rock of Ages, ACE Team launched Zeno Clash an action/fighting game set in a punk fantasy world.
So who’s behind ACE Games and just how weird are they?
Launched out of Santiago, Chile, ACE Team was originally created as a game modification (or mod) development group. Its name comes from the initial of the three founders (who are also brothers): Andres Bordeu, Carlos Bordeu and Edmundo Bordeu. Their original inspiration in the world of game design came from actively participating and building mods for DOOM and Quake.
Today their company, which has grown to 12+ members, is largely concentrated in the entertainment software development space. Known for their surreal art and intense game play, they are fully focused on making unique games that will stand out for their originality and quality.
ACE Team is a licensed Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 development firm that can deliver titles to Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and also PC through Steam.
Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages is an action-strategy videogame and was released by Atlus on August, 2011.
The game combines tower defense strategy with a rolling ball mechanic similar to games such as Marble Madness and Super Monkey Ball. The aim of the game is to use a large stone boulder to attack the enemy’s castle at the bottom of the hill, whilst using various defensive structures to defend your own.
Experience a deep storyline set in a fantastic world. In Zeno Clash you play as Ghat, one of Father-Mother’s many children. Ghat is banished by his brothers and will be forced to travel to unknown places to fight for his life.
