Cepaquevino wins the fourth round of Startup Weekend Santiago

The wine application “Cepaquevino” competed among a group of 12 startups, and after a weekend of intense work, with more than 100 participants from 10 different countries, it came in first place. “Kriket” and “Yupy” took second and third place, respectively.

After 54 hours of arduous work, “Cepaquevino” won the first place prize of this fourth round of Startup Weekend Santiago, organized by members of EmprendeUC and StartUp Chile, chosen by a jury from among 12 technology-based projects.

Paulina Sosa, global facilitator of Startup Weekend Santiago, noted: “The ideas, innovations, and teams were all very good, and what most caught my attention was that many managed to have a prototype by Sunday afternoon, not all do. Also, they have achieved much validation with clients, which is very positive.” Continue reading

Jump Chile – the first national university business competition

With this new youth contest Jump Chile and its motto “Boosting your idea”, EmprendeUC made a huge leap!

After 5 successful versions of this contest, the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Chile, in cooperation with EmprendeUC and SURA Chile and presented by the newspaper El Mercurio, organized the contest “Jump Chile”, which aims at motivating all the young entrepreneurs (pre and post graduates) to apply their business ideas, thesis, researches and projects in categories such as applications and mobile, products and services, health, education and social entrepreneurship.

Last Monday Jump Chile was launched, among others with the presence of the Minister of Economy, Pablo Longueira, who in his speech stressed the necessity of competitions like that for our country and that this step towards innovation is so significant and necessary to achieve development. Do Future Series at EmprendeUC: From Research to Innovation

EmprendeUC (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) co-producers of the Do Future documentary, is proud to present its next installment of their “Do Future” series. Do Future is aimed at showcasing the work that is being evolved through the convergence of Silicon Valley with Chile’s emerging entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in the Atacama Valley.

The event will be held on Tuesday, January 3,  2012 at 09:00 hrs., at the Aula Magna Manuel José Irarrázabal (1st Floor Central House UC). On this occasion their international guests, featuring, Kathleen Eisenhardt, will speak on “Strategies for innovation in technology-based companies“. Emprende UC judges selected 147 projects to join business challenge competition

Last Thursday the judges revealed the list of the selected projects that are going to compete in the 8th version of EmprendeUC new business challenge. Selected entrepreneurs will have access to three different workshops that are going to be held in October and November. EmprendeUC 2011 is going to contribute a total of $38.630.000 (CLP) on cash.

The contest is organized by EmprendeUC and Duoc UC, and is sponsored by BCI, Price House Water Coopers, GMOE, De la Barra, Ernst & Siebel, El Mercurio, Incuba UC, Innova Chile CORFO and Canal 13 C.

The awards event is scheduled for December 7th, 2011.
