‘Video Games Extreme Workshop 2’ kicks off today!

Today the Video Games Extreme Workshop 2, hosted by VGA (Video Game Chile) kicks off at UFSM in Valparaiso.

Organized by Video Games Chile and USM Games, the event seeks to attract and support  those who wish to learn and/or improve in game development can collaborate with professionals of the industry in the creation and development of new games. (Photo left: Daniel Winkler, Founder of Iguana Bee along with Pablo Gorigoitia of Brainstomers are the 2 main organizers of the event).

In its previous version the event gathered over 200 people, 20 new games were created, 5 people got hired by video game companies and one of the participating teams started their own company. Continue reading

Chilean game developers play to win at Game Developers Conference 2012

Tomorrow closes out the 26th annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California, USA (March 5-9, 2012)  and mega huge thanks to the support of ProChile (The Trade Commission of Chile) and Video Games Chile (The Chilean Game Developers Association), 5 Chilean member companies had the opportunity to showcase the game developers and design talent out of Chile.

With the recent acquisition of Atakama Labs by DeNA out of Japan, we know that a lot of curious folks couldn’t help but check out what’s coming next out of this small but dynamic South American innovation market.

The Game Developers Conference® (GDC) is the world’s largest professionals-only game industry event. The conference commemorated its 25th edition in 2011, making it also the longest-running event of its kind.

Puzzle Me game pushes Chile’s first kickstarter project up to 81% crowd funded

Puzzle Me! is a family friendly board game developed by Brainstomers.

This is the first board game designed from the indie game designers who recently launched a video game design studio in Santiago.

While they are not a startup, they are the first project we found in the popular North American crowdfunding website, Kickstarter, so we just couldn’t resist giving them some AndesBeat love. Continue reading
