Last Thursday, the Chilean President, Sebastián Piñera, along with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick signed the memorandum of understanding that establishes the Alliance Chile-Massachusetts, in Education, Energy, and Biotechnology.

How was this partnership conceived?

On 23 September 2011, during his working visit to U.S., Chilean Head of State held a meeting with Governor Patrick to expand bilateral cooperation on the basis of the enormous potential for collaboration between institutions, universities and public and private research.

Who participates in this agreement?

In order to progress in these areas and hold meetings with their Chilean counterparts, the North American Governor was accompanied by a delegation composed of the CEO of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and the Technology Collaborative, and the presidents of the University of Massachusetts and the Life Sciences Center, among others.

In Chile, the responsible entities will be the Ministry of Education, the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) and the Ministry of Energy.

Entrepreneurship

All of these parts will give the Chilean marketplace the opportunity to have access to updated technology processes and have the tools to improve on their own business in short time.

More updates and details to follow in a subsequent article.
