AndesBeat launches Chile market entry handbook series for companies

AndesBeat new Chile market entry handbook series was created based on the many inquiries we have received the past 18 months through our contact page, from startup founders and fortune companies alike.

Insights related to specific business protocols; business intelligence related to a certain industry vertical; infrastructure (technology and financial); or identifying a starting point for exploring business opportunities in the region, especially for the English language market are among the most common requests.

AndesBeat ‘remote’ picks for Start-Up Chile Demo Day

Yesterday Pinterest acquired Livestar (a company that launched at TC Disrupt SF 2012, where AndesBeat organized the first ever Chilean Pavilion at the conference); Google released Keep (as a way to get into Evernote space, seems so), expanded its Google+ Platform Team, improved it’s Sports-Related Search Results and made Digg.com links disappear from Google’s search results. Plus yesterday also was the International Color and Happiness Day! What a day, huh?

But you know what? At the end of the day, that news wasn’t relevant at all in Chile’s start up world, because everyone’s attention was on Start-Up Chile Demo Day VIP and what could happen inside of Av. Providencia #229, Santiago, where 21 companies had the chance to flirt with investors for a few minutes to bring some funds and hit their next milestones.

If you weren’t invited to the event, no worries because I wasn’t invited either! Continue reading

South by South America: Chile, Brazil lead LatAm presence at SXSW 2013

Editor’s Note: An uber special thanks to our friends at uShip who inspired this ‘South by South America’ themed post. However, they did not create nor endorse this post.

Hearing the lineup of countries attending SXSW this year, it is starting to sound more like South by South America! As all the local and international press begins to surface about Chile and their big showdown going on at South by Southwest 2013, some folks have asked us why are we “late” on releasing a news story regarding Chile’s involvement this year.

(In photo, Nixter team from Chile when they first arrived to U.S.A.)

At AndesBeat, we work to provide exposure in many different ways to early-stage startups and major foreign technology firms ideally before they enter the Chilean market. So our interest is more targeted towards promoting:

  • The start-ups and foreign tech companies at the SXSW conference who are newly launching in Chile
  • The start-ups and foreign tech companies preparing to launch a product or service in the Chilean market
  • An individual who can share an experience with Chilean startups who are not able to attend SXSW but can learn or benefit from the experience

Meet AndesMade Advisor: Hannu Krosing

AndesBeat is uber excited to announce Hannu Krosing as the 2nd mentor of our forthcoming AndesMade immersion based initiative to support Chilean startup founders and tech entrepreneurs rapid prototype and quickly get ideas into the marketplace with their bootstrapping mode on. (You can follow our running list with  newly named mentors here!)

Since we have been told time and time again its going to be a little difficult to support our ‘utopian’ dreams of building our community of soon to be ‘bleeding edge’ hackers and startup thought leaders from a bunch of ‘failed and rejected’ Chilean startup projects, we thought we would get a 2nd opinion just to be sure…

Geeks fantasy becomes real as Chilean startups arrive in Silicon Valley

Conceptualized by Santiago, Chile IncubaUC (Entrepreneurship Incubator at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) and co-produced in conjunction with U.S. based 3 Day Startup, Geek Fantasy Camp brought together a random group of entrepreneurial minded professional people with the objective to launch a startup in 5 days and 2 nights.

The winning teams as determined by a group of international investors, accomplished entrepreneurs and co-founders of 3 Day Startups were awarded a trip to Silicon Valley and will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to investors based in the Valley. They will be traveling in Silicon Valley February 5 to March 6, 2012 and AndesBeat will be tracking their journey and milestones from their trip. Continue reading

¡CHILENOS start up Chile! ¿Cierto?

Editor’s Note: This post was inspired by Joaquín Dufeu co-founder of GiveO2.

Chileno HOMBRES….it appears that some of you have gotten a little bit caught up in the excitement of AndesBeat and don’t even know what it REALLY is (sincerely, thank you for your support)! Las mujeres Chilenas entienden todos perfecto, pero Chileno hombres…no entienden, nada, jejeje.

So this is the deal, Chilenos have been sending us referrals of startups to feature on the AndesBeat site, but they never recommend their own startup or other Chileno founded startups.

What up with that, chicos?

So I decided to write this post to share more about the inspiration and vision behind AndesBeat. Never mind my wild and crazy Castellano and extremely dark humor.  You know I love you mucho, Chilenos. Ya, listo! Continue reading
